Mission Statement
A new creation in the risen Jesus Christ, the Lord of Life community seeks to worship faithfully, grow spiritually, witness to the gospel joyfully, and respond compassionately.
History
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield, Ohio is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are also a member of the Northeastern Ohio Synod, headquartered in Akron.
Lord of Life Canfield began as a mission congregation of The Lutheran Church in America in 1963. Original meetings were in the C.H. Campbell elementary school. The first worship service was held at the school on February 2nd, 1964, followed by being officially organized on Pentecost, May 17th, 1964.
Ground for the present building, at 550 N. Broad Street, was broken on February 17th, 1967. A Festival of Dedication was held for the new church home on February 4th, 1968. Lord of Life continued as a mission church until 1972. In June of 1999 the present Sanctuary was dedicated.
During the life of the congregation there have been six Pastors and four Interim Pastors.
